FAQ

WHERE IS UXBRIDGE?
Uxbridge is a town 70 km NE of Toronto. We offer a map and more specific directions
HERE

IS THERE PARKING?
There are 5 venues associated with the festival. All of them have parking lots with the
exception of Blue Heron Studio and Uxbridge Music Hall. For any events held at these
venues, there is municipal parking across the street from Blue Heron Books and street
parking available.  All parking is free.

IS THE FESTIVAL WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE?
All venues are wheelchair accessible. As some of the venues are very old buildings
space may be somewhat restricted. We do offer courtesy seating – for anyone with
mobility challenges, physical disabilities, and hearing or vision issues.  If you have a
particular concern, please call Blue Heron Books at 905-852-4282.

DO I NEED TO BUY TICKETS TO ATTEND FESTIVAL EVENTS?
As events tend to sell out, we highly recommend tickets in advance. However, if tickets
are available, we will sell at the door.

CAN I RESERVE A TICKET FOR AN EVENT?
Due to capacity limits, we only accept pre-payment for tickets. Unfortunately, unless a
ticket has been paid for in advance, your spot is not reserved.

WHAT IS YOUR REFUND POLICY?
Tickets are non-refundable.

IS THERE EVER RESERVED SEATING?
All events are General Admission. Unfortunately, we are not able to guarantee or
reserve seats together at any events.

CAN I BUY BOOKS?
Yes, indeed! All authors’ books will be available at their event. All events are initially
sold as book-in, with the book that the author is introducing that evening included in

your ticket price. Signing is limited to those books included with the ticket or purchased
at the event.

WILL THERE BE ANY SOUVENIR MERCHANDISE FOR SALE?
Yes! There will be Book Drunkard book bags, t-shirts, book lights, signs, patches,
chocolate, and cider! With the exception of the alcohol, all items will be on hand at each
event of the festival and at Blue Heron Books all year round. The Cider House Rules
(created for John Irving) is available at Slabtown Cider Co. starting in November. The
‘Maud’ cider (created to honour Lucy Maud Montgomery) is available at Banjo Cider.

WHAT FORMS OF PAYMENT ARE ACCEPTED?
All forms of payment are accepted.

CAN I VOLUNTEER?
Volunteers are always welcomed! If you are interested, please contact Blue Heron
Books at 905-852-4282.

COULD I BE CONSIDERED AS AN AUTHOR/PRESENTER?
The festival line-up is a highly curated one and is established well in advance of the
announcement of the lineup. We work closely with our publisher partners to ensure the
program is balanced and appealing to all.

MAY I GET FOOD OR DRINKS AT EVENTS?
Food is included in the ticket price for most of the events and is a full meal in the case of
the brunch events. All evening events have a bar service and also offer snacks or meals
in addition to what is included in your ticket price.  It is best to call the venue ahead to
ensure that your specific needs will be met.
